Magnetic Metal Herb or Seasoning Canisters Solve Kitchen Problems

Herbs and spices are tasty and healthy. Today's busy cooks save time with a real culinary convenience from Alton Brown's favorite storage manufacturer.

Zero Gravity might be the newest leg-up for busy cooks. It isn’t about astronauts, it’s about a useful product from a company called Zevro. According to Alton Brown and a myriad of other foodies, Zevro may make the best container solutions for organizing your kitchen. Their spice storage systems are unique.

A lot more every-day cooks would get into seasonings if storing and using those herbs and spices were easy. What are the problems? Take a look:

From set up to everyday use, the Zero Gravity set solves these issues for most kitchen crusaders. Zero Gravity refers to the magnetic character of the spice containers, which allows you to set them on top the small rack, or hang them, upside down, on the bottom of the shelf. There’s a standing unit, too, footprint small as a cell phone.

Easy to Use

Simple set up. Wash the clear plastic inserts in warm soapy water, rinse. Wipe the other parts. Slip one clear cylinder inside each metal sleeve, fill, label with the preprinted labels and screw on the lid. Set the canisters on either side (free standing rack) or on the top or bottom (wall-hung unit).

Now for one-handed operation. Push the small lever with your thumb as you hold the can. You can sift, sprinkle or pour. Open all the way to pour celery salt into a measuring spoon, part way to sprinkle a dash of cinnamon over ice cream. After a week of using this, it would be hard to give it up.

Zero Gravity’s design is sleek, brushed metal that seems to fit most decors. A quick wipe cleans each canister when needed. Once empty, it’s wash and refill. Very satisfying to have all the seasonings in plain sight. Because the canisters are opaque, light pollution isn’t an issue.

The Drawbacks

There are other spice racks, but most bring the same problems to the table. If you enjoy using herbs and spices or would like to get more experience with them, you can begin with a six canister system, do a little home work and be on your way to becoming an expert.
